TV Discussions: Devious Maids

Devious Maids

Devious Maids isn't what I expected it to be. In a good way, I mean. I expected it to be some little soapy horrible kind of show. I never watched Desperate Housewives, but everyone has talked about it. I don't know if I should go and get on Netflix and watch it. Should I? It starts of with the maid, Flora, and her employers. The wife and husband who are very, very secretive and powerful. The wife accuses Flora of seducing her husband and it, of course, isn't true. After the wife and husband leave, Flora then begins to write a note saying she was raped and then she is promptly killed.

Wow. So then begins this whole mystery, who killed her and why? Although a waiter, who was holding the knife is arrested, we all know that he didn't do it. Why he was holding the knife, I DON'T KNOW. Then we move on to this group of maids and their employers as well.

We have a whole cast of different personalities overlapping and its completely wonderful to see. The crazy old medical doped up lady, the younger bright maid, the creepy pervy old man, the saucy older maids, the high society older women, the younger self-absorbed high society woman. This character heavy plot has so much going on with it, its easy to keep up with and its fun to watch everything unfold.

Everyone has been talking about the stereotyping of the Latina maids, but I can forget about it and watch it for what it is, just a fresh, saucy mystery. These maids are strong, great women and yet they work for these privileged, Caucasian women, but its okay because you can tell even from the first episode, they've got....issues.

So I'll be happy to be watching this every Sunday since, The Client List is gone. Do you watch this show? Do you like it? Do you like The Client List as well? Its great.

In my opinion.
