Hello, hello there.
I just have a few announcements to make, firstly, it is my birthday today. Yes, it is. Woot Woot.
Enough gifs here, but yeah, its my birthday, wish me Happy Birthday here if you'd like or on Twitter over at @kandeecanread , or not. But I'd make me pretty happy if you did. I just wanted this post up before tomorrow because I will be gone.
Anyways, I spent all day today with my boyfriend watching The Walking Dead. Was it amazing?
Will I be anxiously waiting for Season 2 to come on Netflix?
Yes. One, the acting is flawless, and two the direction and was simply fantastic. Rick's character was clearly defined by his actor, Andrew Lincoln. The look on his face throughout the show, was in complete horror and IT WAS PERFECT. His facial reactions were humorous to me, but that's just me. The first episode completely sold me and I was hooked. As you're watching everything is clearly defined. Nothing is really left out in episode one except the question on where are, main character, Rick's, wife and kids are and where is everyone else in the world? It reminded me so much of other movies in the genre, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil, but some how it had its own little twist on the genre.
The zombie effects and the shooting effect were on point and too die for! All throughout the season. Each zombie has so much detail to it, I mean some are worse than others, like Morgan's wife isn't that grotesque looking, its simpler than, lets say, the girl who Rick stole the bike from.
As we were introduced to the other characters, we don't get their names straight away, or maybe that's just me. I didn't like that, I had to wait and listen for it. And I know it was bound to happen, I had grown too attached to the characters they let die in this season.
The season finale for me just didn't do it though, it wasn't as suspenseful as I would've liked it to be. If they had cut it shorter, per say, and ended it at the point where they're trying to get out. It would've been perfect! But sadly, I am not he director. I must even say, it was the weakest episode for me.
Also, the word they use for the zombies...Walkers. I do love it, it'd be better than just saying Oh, look its a zombie. And with Laurie and Shane? Their affair seemed like much more and the show treats it as nothing. My boyfriend and I were just WAITING for something about that to happen, but it didn't. I really didn't like the way they handled that as well.
Even through the flaws, The Walking Dead is an exceptional show and I highly recommend it for anyone who is into horror and the zombie genre in general. Its a show not to be missed!
